Every person who serves or prepares food in Mesa County is encouraged to obtain a Food Handler's Card. Food Service workers are encouraged to obtain a Food Handler's Card by attending one of the scheduled classes. Discounted Hepatitis A and Tdap shots are also available at each class. Attending the Food Handler’s Class is not mandatory, but is a valuable, low cost opportunity for food handlers to learn the basics of safe food handling. To obtain a card, you are encouraged to attend one of the conveniently scheduled classes listed on this page. The class is appropriate for managers, cooks, wait staff, dishwashers, bus persons, bartenders, etc., whether you are employed full time or part time, or only handle food occasionally. People employed in institutional facilities and childcare facilities should also attend the class and obtain a card.
